Sr. Software Engineer

Embodied Games is an independent studio specializing in gesture-based controls and games.  We have a wide range of research backgrounds to develop games that empower children to learn through play.  We are based in Phoenix, Arizona.

We are seeking a highly talented, motivated, full-time Sr. Game Engineer experienced in Unity development.  You would be working on gameplay and analytics implementation, tools development and playing with new toys like HTC Vive, Kinect 2 sensors and the Intel RealSense.  We are a small independent team, which include artists, a designer and researchers from the universities.  You will have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to games in the education and psychology space that have real impact on the lives of children around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individual must write code for video game development using Unity Pro.
  • Work closely with designers, artists, and animators to design software systems and solve complex problems.
  • Investigate and adopt new game technologies, practices, tools, and systems.
  • Fix tricky bugs and identify solutions to issues as assigned.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to identify and deal with issues before they arise.
  • Self-manage when given prioritized goals and objectives.
  • Individual must strive to maintain schedule and meet deadlines.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Fluent in C#, JavaScript and Unity.
  • Experience working with motion capture technology.
  • Proven ability to independently design, schedule, and implement game/engine features that meet the requirements of the design, art, and animation teams.
  • Proven ability to add features to large, complicated systems without unnecessary rework and without introducing bugs or performance issues.
  • Experience with implementing code/data optimizations needed to improve both memory consumption and execution speed.
  • Computer science, mathematics, physics, or related degree.

SKILLS:

  • A self-motivator possessing the ability and drive to contribute towards and advance all aspects of a game.
  • Excellent math skills with an emphasis on 3D math.
  • Strong game design sensibilities.
  • Comfort in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts.
  • A team-player who understands the importance of collaboration, and can communicate effectively with all disciplines and departments.
  • Positive, solution-oriented individual passionate about making games and playing them.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
2D Artist - contract

We are seeking a highly talented, motivated, contract 2D Game Artist.  In this position you will create both vector and pixel based art for game assets and final artwork to enhance our established style and branding.  We are a small independent team, which include artists, a designer and researchers from universities.  You will have the opportunity to contribute in a meaningful way to games in the education and psychology space that have real impact on the lives of children around the world.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Individual must write code for video game development using Unity Pro
  • Work closely with the team to design software systems and solve complex problems
  • Investigate and adopt new game technologies, practices, tools, and systems
  • Fix tricky bugs and identify solutions to issues as assigned
  • Proactively seek out opportunities to identify and deal with issues before they arise
  • Self-manage when given prioritized goals and objectives

  • 5+ years of experience in programming/engineering development
  • Shipped at least 2+ published titles with Unity as a programmer
  • Proven ability to independently design, schedule, and implement game/engine features that meet the requirements of the design, art, and animation teams
  • Proven ability to add features to large, complicated systems without unnecessary rework and without introducing bugs or performance issues
  • Experience with implementing code/data optimizations needed to improve both memory consumption and execution speed
  • Computer science, mathematics, physics, or related degree
